I have a mac, tried iMovie, and it’s terrible. Anyone out there know anything better/more intuitive?

Adobe accidentally dumped cs2 with serials a while back. Primere is nice and easy. I’ve also used Vegas and liked it.

Adobe After Effects CS2 is technically free (no activiation server anymore). Same with Premier.

How do I get CS2? A quick google search told me I need the OSX version out with the PowerPC processors

Nice. This helps me as well, i also think imovie is shitty.

CS2 is ancient, and you don’t want anything downloaded from a torrent or anything. Do an App Store search and back up what you find with googled reviews. That’s how I find lots of my Mac software, and I get great results, often with little money. I'll see what I can find after I get my daughter to bed.

Mac? There’s your problem!

If the links still work try this:

It worked for me on a pc. It should have the version you need.

I had the same problem, just kept slamming at iMovie til it started to become familiar. Clip selection still sucks hard though. Maybe I’ll try the Premiere links here.

Doesn’t work on Intel macs.

I like Final Cut Pro 7 on OS X, (FCP 10 is terrible)
Premiere Pro is also excellent but they’re... $$$

Okay, the obvious answer Miss Mercedes already gave you: Final Cut Pro. In case you don’t have that kind of coin to spend, I looked around a bit. Lightworks has a MacOSX version. Don’t know what the free version can do, but there is one. Filmora from Wondershare is on the App Store, where it costs $30, but it’s a free download version from the Filmora website. Mixed reviews; people seem to love it if it doesn’t crash on their computers. As others say, Adobe Premiere Elements is well thought of and only costs $99.
I use iMovie; so, my personal experience isn't much use to you, but I hope this helps. Good luck!

That’s pretty fucked. At that point just spin up a vm and have at it.

I wouldn’t run a video editing program through a VM. Video editing requires a lot of RAM and processing power. Suffocating it in a VM doesn’t help, ESPECIALLY in a PowerPC VM.

Never done it on a powerpc. But it works fine on Intel procs virtually.

I’ve found iMovie has a bit of a learning curve to get past the simplified grandma making a movie about her vacation surface UI, but can actually be quite powerful for a lot of purposes. Just avoid the distasteful themes and so on. The newest version actually supports compositing!
Of course final cut and premier are great, but thats a whole lot dolla dolla bills.
As far as free alternatives go, I haven’t spent too much time with it but HitFilm looks quite promising.

iMovie HD is old, but everybody in my school used that instead of the standard iMovie. I'm not sure if it runs on your version of Mac though.

Nothing wrong with FCP X. Pretty powerful tool once you figure out the intricacies. Don’t listen to the haters.
